Climate - Dordogne and Charente
Mild winters and the summer temperatures are on average 7 degrees higher than the UK.
The position of the valleys, the profile and the sun's altitude towards the hills, woods and lakes can create isolated areas with their own micro-climate.
The summer normally spoken is long and it can be very warm. From experience the best months for a visit are May, June, September and October when the days are comfortably warm but not too hot.
Often in the early morning it can be misty, but always brightens up so you can see the surroundings at its best! The previous summers have been relatively warm: 30-35 degrees.
There are frequent thunderstorms, especially in the Vézèrevalley and the south west of the province. From time to time showers occur, which disappear just as rapidly as they appeared.
